The 28^thof June Lakeside Manor YHA won the Limestone Coast Tourism Award 2008 for BestStandard Accommodation. After not even 3 years in operation it's a fantasticachievement!

November 2007

In the first weekend of November, the managers (Garth and Saskia) and the owner (Oscar Rosero) went up to Adelaide for the annual South Australian Tourism Awards. On Saturday during a gala dinner, Lakeside Manor YHA was announced as the winner in our categorie (backpackers). So from now on we can call ourselves: best backpackers in whole South Australia!

Lakeside Manor YHA, has 2 new managers. We - Garth Gallagher and Saskia Poppema - are very delighted to live and work in Robe and meeting all you new people! We welcome new Manager Jeff to the helm. Jeff is very knowledgable on Robe and surrounds, having both holidayed and worked in the town over the years.  Ask Jeff about the best local surf spots!!! Good luck Jeff.

The Manor is in a film!!! Australian drama, The Caterpillar Wish, was set in Robe and surrounding townships. Featuring Australian Actresses Susie Porter and Wendy Hughes, the Manor is used as the home for Wendy Hughes' character and family. The Manor is being frequented by some longer-term guests, with seasonal work now becoming available around the town and district. Keep an eye on the 'Work Available' page of our site for any jobs that come up. We offer a weekly rate for those keen to stay on at the Manor.

Unfortunately, it is time to say good-bye to Manager Garth. We know Garth had a great time at the hostel, especially the three months he spent by himself at the Manor prior to the opening!!! Best wishes Garth from all at 'the Manor'. Come back soon!

We welcome Adventure Tours/Oz Experience to our hostel for a brief but enjoyable stay, while they had to divert from their usual route through Halls Gap due to the bushfires. From all accounts, everyone was really happy especially the tour guides!

 

December 2005

New Year's Eve saw the hostel filled, with guests enjoying a BBQ dinner at 'the Manor'  followed by an evening filled with great company and atmosphere at the local Robe pubs. The guests were great and the hostel is still in one piece....
